Description

SFSP Series Hammer Mill – High-Efficiency Fine Grinding, Reliable Tool for Feed Crushing

The SFSP series hammer mill is one of the most commonly used grinding devices in the feed processing industry, suitable for fine and coarse grinding of various materials such as corn, soybean meal, wheat, rice husk, wood chips, and forage. This series adopts an advanced hammer and screen combination structure. Through high-speed rotating hammers, materials are impacted, sheared, and abraded, then quickly pass through the screen to achieve the desired particle size. With its compact structure, high crushing efficiency, easy screen change, and stable operation, the SFSP series has become the preferred grinding equipment for feed mills, grain processing plants, and biomass fuel plants worldwide.

1. Model Designation and Naming Rules

Common models of the SFSP series hammer mill include SFSP56×30, SFSP56×36, SFSP60×45, SFSP60×60, SFSP60×75, SFSP60×90, SFSP66×80, SFSP66×100, etc. The numbers indicate rotor diameter (cm) and grinding chamber width (cm). For example, SFSP56×36 means rotor diameter 56 cm, grinding chamber width 36 cm.

Different models are equipped with main motor power ranging from 11kW to 200kW, with capacities from a few hundred kilograms to tens of tons per hour. Users can flexibly select the appropriate model based on their capacity requirements.

2. Working Principle

The SFSP hammer mill mainly consists of a feed inlet, body, rotor (hammer plates + hammers), screen, discharge device (fan or self-suction), and motor.

During operation, material enters the grinding chamber through the feed inlet. Under the impact of high-speed rotating hammers, the material is thrown towards the toothed plates fixed on the body, receiving further impact and shearing. At the same time, particles collide with each other and are gradually ground into smaller particles. When the particle size is smaller than the screen opening, it passes through the screen and is discharged; coarse particles that do not pass through continue to be ground inside the chamber. By changing screens with different hole diameters (commonly 0.8–10 mm), the final fineness can be flexibly controlled.

3. Core Advantages & Technical Features

1. High grinding efficiency, low energy consumption

The SFSP series features optimized hammer arrangement and rotor balancing technology. Hammer tip speed can reach 80–110 m/s, creating a strong vortex in the grinding chamber, allowing material to be efficiently ground in a short time. Compared to similar products, energy consumption per ton is reduced by 10%–20%.

2. Uniform and controllable particle size

By changing screens with different hole diameters and adjusting the number of hammers and clearance, coarse, medium, and fine powder can be produced with concentrated particle size distribution, meeting different downstream process requirements (pelletizing, extrusion, mixing).

3. Robust construction, stable operation

The body is welded from thickened steel plates, and key components are dynamically balanced. The main shaft is made of high-strength alloy steel, and bearings are imported or from well-known domestic brands, ensuring long-term continuous operation.

4. Easy maintenance, quick changeover

Front-opening or side-opening housing design (with safety interlock) allows quick screen and hammer changes. Hammers are symmetrically designed and can be turned for extended life. Screens are made of punched or wear-resistant steel plates and can be replaced without special tools.

5. Multiple feeding and discharging options

Feeding can be gravity feeding, forced screw feeding, or negative pressure suction. Discharge can be equipped with a centrifugal fan or self-suction, along with a pulse dust collector for environmentally friendly production.

6. Comprehensive safety protection

Equipped with current overload protection, vibration monitoring, mechanical explosion vent, etc. The motor is connected to the mill via a flexible coupling or belt drive to prevent overload damage.

7. Wide material adaptability

Can grind high-moisture (15%–20%), high-fiber (rice husk, forage), high-oil (e.g., oilseed meal) materials. Some models can also be equipped with iron removal and stone removal devices.

4. Typical Applications

  • Feed industry: Corn, wheat, soybean meal, cottonseed meal, rapeseed meal, fishmeal, bone meal, shell powder, premix carriers, etc.

  • Grain processing: Rice, millet, sorghum, oats, buckwheat, and other grains for flour production.

  • Biomass energy: Wood chips, straw, rice husk, cotton stalks, bamboo powder for biomass fuel grinding.

  • Chemical and pharmaceutical industries: Gypsum, activated carbon, herbal residues, bentonite, pesticide carriers, and other medium-hardness materials.

  • Pet food and additives: Meat by-products, biscuits, grain crumbs, etc.

5. Selection Guide

When selecting an SFSP series hammer mill, consider the following factors:

  1. Capacity requirements: Small feed mills can choose SFSP56×30 (11-22kW, 0.5-1.5t/h); medium-sized mills choose SFSP60×45 (45-55kW, 2-4t/h); large mills choose SFSP60×90 or SFSP66×100 (132-160kW, 6-10t/h).

  2. Material characteristics: For high-fiber, wet materials, choose a larger grinding chamber and thicker screens; for hard materials, increase the number of hammers and select a high tip speed model.

  3. Grinding fineness: For fine powder (e.g., fish feed, shrimp feed), use small aperture screens (0.8-1.5mm) and a strong suction system; for coarse powder (e.g., poultry feed), use 2.0-4.0mm screens.

  4. Auxiliary systems: It is recommended to equip with pulse dust collector, silencer, and variable frequency feeder to reduce dust and noise and increase automation.

  5. Installation space: Pay attention to the height and maintenance platform requirements of the mill, leaving enough space for screen changes and maintenance.

6. Maintenance & Care

  1. Hammers and screens: Check hammer wear every 200-300 operating hours; turn or replace hammers. Replace screens promptly if damaged to prevent oversized particles from affecting quality.

  2. Bearings and lubrication: Add grease (EP lithium-based #2) every 500 hours; clean bearings every 2000 hours.

  3. Rotor balance: When replacing hammers, replace in symmetrical pairs to avoid rotor imbalance and vibration.

  4. Clean magnetic separator: Remove iron particles from the feed magnet or permanent magnet drum after each shift to prevent damage to hammers and screens.

  5. Air system: Regularly clean discharge pipes, fan impellers, and dust collector bags to keep the system ventilated.

  6. Check bolts: Before operation, check hammer fixing bolts, screen clamp nuts, and other fasteners to prevent loosening.

7. Common Problems & Solutions

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Coarse particle size Damaged or oversized screen; severely worn hammers; excessive clearance Replace screen; replace hammers; adjust hammer-screen clearance
Reduced capacity Worn hammers; clogged screen holes; uneven feeding; insufficient airflow Replace hammers; clean screen; adjust feeder; clean air system
Bearing overheating Poor lubrication; damaged bearing; over-tight assembly Add grease; replace bearing; reassemble
Excessive vibration Unbalanced hammers; damaged rotor bearing; loose foundation bolts Replace hammers symmetrically; repair bearing; tighten foundation bolts
Unusual noise in grinding chamber Iron or hard object entered; broken hammer; worn hammer plate Stop and remove foreign object; replace hammer; repair rotor
