Sawtooth slot roller shell – asymmetric ratchet-like through-groove pattern. Steep face for gripping, gentle face for release; unidirectional gripping effect increases bite angle by 15%-25%. Specifically engineered for low-density, difficult-to-pellet materials including rice husk powder, fluffy wood chips, high-elasticity fibers, and waste paper pulp. Laser cladded tungsten carbide tooth tips for enhanced wear resistance.

Description

The sawtooth slot roller shell is a high-grip design for pellet mill rollers, featuring surface grooves arranged in a sawtooth or ratchet-like asymmetric pattern. Each tooth unit consists of a steep face (gripping face) and a gentle face (release face), with the steep face typically at a 60°-80° angle to the roller surface tangent and the gentle face at 30°-45°. This asymmetric structure generates a ratchet-like unidirectional gripping effect as the roller rotates, significantly enhancing the bite capability for low-density, high-elasticity, or smooth-surfaced materials.

The sawtooth slot roller shell is particularly suitable for difficult-to-pellet materials such as fluffy rice husk powder, high-elasticity wood chips, waste paper pulp fibers, and certain recycled plastic powders. The unidirectional tooth design effectively prevents material rebound and slippage within the compression zone, increasing the bite angle by 15%-25% compared to conventional groove types, and significantly reducing the probability of slipping and idling. Additionally, the sawtooth structure applies extra kneading and directional pushing action to the material during compression.

Selection guidelines: The sawtooth direction must match the roller rotation direction – reverse installation results in zero gripping capability. Recommended tooth height 2-4mm, tooth pitch 4-8mm. The steep face angle should not be too steep (<70°) to prevent premature tooth tip wear. High-toughness alloy steel with tooth tip hardening treatment (e.g., laser cladding with tungsten carbide) is recommended. Maintenance focus includes monitoring the degree of tooth tip rounding – when the tooth tip radius exceeds 0.5mm, gripping capability drops significantly, requiring timely replacement.
