Description
The arc slot roller shell is a specialized design of pellet mill roller, featuring through grooves with a cross-section in an arc shape (U-shaped or semi-circular). Compared to traditional V-shaped or rectangular grooves, the arc slot structure offers significant advantages: no sharp edges, smoother stress distribution, and lower material flow resistance. This groove shape applies effective compression to the material while reducing fiber cutting and particle breakage, making it particularly suitable for materials that require maintaining longer fiber length or intact particle structure, such as hay pellets, straw pellets, wood chip pellets, and certain traditional Chinese medicine granulation.
The core advantages of the arc slot roller shell are threefold: First, the arc-shaped bottom eliminates stress concentration points, giving the roller significantly better fatigue life than sharp-bottomed groove types. Second, material flows more smoothly within the arc grooves, reducing the risk of local accumulation or bridging. Third, wear on the ring die inner wall is more uniform, extending ring die service life. This design is especially suitable for pelleting low-to-medium density, high-fiber content biomass raw materials.
Selection guidelines: The arc radius is typically 1.5-2.5 times the groove depth to balance gripping capability and flow smoothness. Recommended groove depths: 3-5mm for wood chips, 4-6mm for hay, 1.5-2.5mm for feed. Recommended materials include high-chromium cast iron or alloy tool steel, with carburizing or nitriding treatment optional. Maintenance focus includes regular inspection for wear bright bands at the arc groove bottom and plastic deformation at groove edges.
